Steneby in Dals Långed, Sweden, offers the Nordic countries most relevant education for material-based art and design. But what is material-based art?
Does it mean the same for the outside world as it does for us who are active in this school? We seek your answer!

Steneby Konsthall, welcomes you to apply to their Open Call for an exhibition taking place from the 20th May – 28th June 2020. We welcome applications from
anyone who considers what it means to be based in material. We hope this spans across arts, crafts, writing, design, manufacture, production, color, form and beyond.

A jury consisting of the Konsthall Board, will select proposals that answer the ques- tion, `What is material-based art in 2020?’ in briliant and intriguing ways. Or perhaps the exhibition will solely bring about new questions? It remains to be seen.

To apply please send the following information within one PDF, not exceeding 5MB, by Midnight 24th March to laura.blake@steneby.se:

-Your name and contact details
-Title, year, size and dimensions of the work
-Up to three images of the actual work you intend to exhibit
(we should be able to clearly understand what the piece is from these images)
-Description of the artwork (up to 150 words)
-Your explanation of how this work relates to the question, `What is materials-based art?’ (up to 150 words)

Entry is free, and you are welcome to apply in either English or Swedish.
If you wish to apply with more than one work, send a PDF for each. Late applica- tions, or those that lack any of the above information, will not be considered. This exhibiton will be paid according to the MU-agreement for all participating artists.

If for access reasons, you wish to apply in another format, such as audio or video, please get in touch with Laura Blake at laura.blake@steneby.se, or call her on (+46)704299472.

Steneby Konsthall is a wheechair accessible venue.

We look forward to receiving your application.
