On 17 November 2026, it’s time for Careers Conference #3 – a conference for those studying art, design or craft, as well as for those who have recently taken their first steps into a professional artistic career. 

This is a day for orientation, new perspectives and future possibilities. During the conference you will explore how you can establish yourself, make a living and grow within art, design and craft – with courage, knowledge and sustainability as your foundation.

Theme 2026
– Navigating towards a sustainable artistic career 

This year’s conference focuses on two main themes: 

  1. Howthe cultural sector works – and how you can find your place in it 

How is the cultural sector actually structured? Which organisations, institutions and funders exist? What kinds of support can you apply for, and how do different actors within art, design and craft collaborate? 

During the conference you will gain a clearer understanding of how the artistic field and creative industry works in Sweden: what opportunities exist, how the financial landscape looks, and which networks may be important for you. When you understand how the system works, it becomes easier to find your way into professional life – and to make a living from your practice. 

  1. Buildinga sustainable career as an artist 

How do you build a career that works in the long term? How can you practise self-leadership and make thoughtful decisions about your time, energy and finances? What does it look like to build your own mix of income sources that create stability? 

Here we will explore how different types of work and income can be combined to create stability – and how you can shape an artistic career that allows space for both creative development and personal sustainability.

Where?
At Långedsverken in Dals Långed, near HDK-Valand Campus Steneby – a place with strong connections to art, craft and design.
If you study at HDK-Valand in Gothenburg, you will be able to sign up for a conference bus departing from HDK-Valand in the morning of 17 November and returning the same evening. 

When?
17 November 2026. More information and the full programme will be announced later. 

For whom?
The conference is for students studying art, design or craft – but also for those who have recently stepped into professional life and are still figuring out where to begin. 

Whether you are in the middle of your studies or in the transition between education and professional practice, Careers Conference is a place where you can gain new perspectives, inspiration and practical tools for the future.

Careers Conference #3 

Den 17 november 2026 är det dags för Careers Conference #3 – en konferens för dig som studerar konst, design, slöjd eller konsthantverk och för dig som nyligen har tagit steget ut i det konstnärliga yrkeslivet. 

Det här är en dag för orientering, nya perspektiv och framtidstro. Under konferensen får du utforska hur du kan etablera dig, försörja dig och utvecklas inom konst, design, slöjd och konsthantverk – med både mod, kunskap och hållbarhet som grund.

Årets tema
– Att navigera mot ett hållbart konstnärligt yrkesliv 

Årets konferens kretsar kring två teman: 

  1. Hur kulturlivet fungerar – och hur du hittar din plats i det

Hur är egentligen kulturlivet uppbyggt? Vilka organisationer, institutioner och finansiärer finns? Vilka stöd kan du söka – och hur samarbetar olika aktörer inom konst, design och hantverk? 

Under konferensen får du en tydligare bild av hur det konstnärliga fältet och kreativa branscher fungerar i Sverige: vilka möjligheter som finns, hur ekonomin kan se ut och vilka nätverk som kan vara viktiga för dig. När du förstår hur systemet fungerar blir det också lättare att hitta vägar in i yrkeslivet – och att kunna försörja dig på ditt arbete. 

  1. Att skapa ett hållbart yrkesliv som konstnär

Hur bygger du ett yrkesliv som fungerar i längden? Hur kan du arbeta med självledarskap och fatta kloka beslut kring din tid, energi och ekonomi? Vad kan det innebära att bygga just din försörjningspalett av inkomstkällor som tillsammans skapar stabilitet? 

Här pratar vi om hur olika typer av uppdrag och inkomster kan kombineras för att skapa stabilitet – och hur du kan forma ett konstnärligt yrkesliv där det finns utrymme för både konstnärlig utveckling och personlig hållbarhet.

Studerar du vid HDK-Valand i Göteborg kan du anmäla dig till en konferensbuss som avgår från HDK-Valand på morgonen den 17 november och återvänder samma kväll.

Konferensen riktar sig till dig som studerar konst, design, slöjd eller konsthantverk – men också till dig som nyligen har kastat dig ut i yrkeslivet och fortfarande försöker hitta din väg. 

Oavsett om du är mitt i din utbildning eller står i övergången mellan studier och yrkesliv är Careers Conference #3 en plats där du kan få nya perspektiv, inspiration och konkreta verktyg för framtiden.
