Boy with a Crow

Boy with a Crow is an early work by Akseli Gallen-Kallela, a ground-breaking Finnish artist from the late 19th / early 20th Century.  As a child I was fond of the painting and it has followed me ever since. In this exhibition, In this exhibition I took inspiration by the worn trousers of the little boy and by the painting as a whole.  The painting is from 1884 and is in the permanent collection at the Ateneum in Helsinki, painted when Gallen-Kallela was only 19 years.
