Cabinet making 1-2 years

This program is intended for those wishing to deepen and expand their carpentry know-how. It is designed as a step between school and production and includes working with architects and customers.

The program is run on the lines of a carpentry shop so as to provide vocational practice while enabling you to expand your knowledge of hand tools, materials and various techniques.
 
Like a company
You will be asked to take extensive responsibility in the workshop as the training is run like a company. Preparing professional cost estimates is included in the work.
 
By working independently or in a team for external customers, you will gain experience in machine-use and production. The manufacture can include one-off products, prototypes, interior furnishings or short furniture series. The program also includes instruction in tool care, surface treatment, intarsia and corporate financial practices.
 
You will be assigned a personal workstation with your own tools. To the extent allowed by the program, we try to satisfy student desires for doing varied projects.
 
Journeyman qualification
It is possible to prepare a qualifying piece of work.
 
Eligibility
Basic training in wood joinery, cabinet-making or vocational experience deemed comparable.
 
Application and work samples
Admission is determined in part through the evaluation of work samples. These should comprise photo-documentation of furniture or other objects you have made.
If there are open places and you can demonstrate the necessary vocational experience or skill level deemed comparable to having completed the first year, you may be accepted directly into year 2.
  
 
After completing the program, student have founded their own companies or accepted employment in the furniture industry.
