Steneby – The School of Craft and Design is a department within The Faculty of Fine, Applied and Performing Arts at the University of Gothenburg and is a part of Steneby which is the name of the learning environment in Dals Långed, Dalsland.
 
Steneby – The School of Craft and Design offers three bachelors of Fine Arts Programmes with focus in the material textile, wood and metal.
 
The academic year is divided into two terms
The autumn term starts in September and ends in mid January.
The spring term starts in mid January and ends in beginning of June.
 
The main teaching language is Swedish although the programmes at Steneby is internationally embossed. Many of the students and teachers come from and work in areas outside Sweden. 
 
BFA Programme in Textile – Garment – Design is intended for anyone wanting to work with textiles as it relates to people and surroundings in differing forums, one of which is the performance stage. The programme enables you work with costume, textile design, and art and crafts as an employee or entrepreneur.
 
BFA Programme in Wood orientated furniture design is for anyone whose goal is to work with design, product development and manufacture of furniture for the furniture industry today and tomorrow. It will provide you with the tools and knowledge needed for future work with in a company or on your own.
 
BFA Programme in Iron & Steel / Public Space. Artistic expression comes in many different sizes. If the larger format is your goal, especially using iron and steel in public spaces, our programme offers the foremost conditions in northern Europe for providing you with the necessary foundation. Our 1200 sq.m. smithy is the perfect venue for a varied, 3-D, experimental artistry.
 
Steneby also offers university preparatory and supplementary programmes at Foundation Steneby School. Those are normally only open for students with Swedish social security number.
